Beware of the supposed customs auction announcement requesting advance payments

Paru le mardi, 08 juin 2021 17:38

Some auction announcements supposedly issued by the customs generate directorate are currently circulating on social media inviting the public to make advance payments for the goods they want to buy during the auctions. This is a scam scheme.

In a release signed on June 3, 2021, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga, director-general of Cameroon customs, formally denied the announcement. He reminded that the auction operations organized by the customs administration require no advance payments, surety, or any other payment not stated by the applicable regulations.

He also invited the public to be alert and contact the commission in charge of the auctions at Littoral I Customs sector in Douala for auction information. Cameroon Customs administration is regularly impersonated by scammers who issued fake job to extort job seekers. Those schemes have been denied by the directorate many times.
