Azali Assoumani, President of Comoros and the only foreign President who traveled to attend the opening match of the 33rd African Cup of Nations, met with President Paul Biya on Tuesday, January 11, for a “cordial tête-à-tête.” 

During the meeting, the two presidents discussed the organization of this football competition. At the end of the meeting, he praised the “perfect organization of AFCON 2021” and the “grandiose opening ceremony.”  

“First of all, I am impressed by the perfect organization of the competition. A very important message has been sent to AFCON2021 detractors who were against the organization of this competition in Cameroon.  This perfect organization was a very strong message. We have shown what Africa is capable of, especially Cameroon, a great country with a lot of experience. I was seduced by the perfect organization of this event ... Honestly, I am proud of Cameroon,” said President Azali Assoumane.

He also explained that both Cameroon and Comoros were ready to intensify cooperation to meet the development challenge for economic emergence.
