Cameroon Launches Program to Equip 71 Hospitals with Medical and Paramedical Equipment

On March 22, the Minister of Public Health formally presented medical equipment to healthcare facilities in the Far North region. This equipment is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing the technical standards of 71 hospitals, with the Far North region serving as the pilot phase of this programme.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health, the donation made on March 22, 2024, is designated for eight healthcare facilities. These include the Mokolo Regional Hospital Annex, the Mokong District Medical Centre, the Mozogo District Hospital, the Hina District Hospital, the Roua District Hospital, the Mogode District Hospital, the Bougha District Hospital, and the Mokolo2 District Hospital.

The donation comprises lead aprons, glass cases with electromagnetic stirrers, retro-alveolar radiology equipment, auto-refractometers, thermostatic water baths, dental chairs, incubators with phototherapy, scalers, slit lamps, micropipettes, binocular microscopes, baby scales, spectrophotometers, heating tables for newborns, thermoflash, tonometers, and dental turbines, among others.

The project is set to extend to all other regions, although the Ministry of Public Health has yet to announce the schedule for this roll-out.
