Chan 2020: The minister of sports warns against fake job offers relayed on social networks

Online, there are presently some job offers for the coming African Nations Championship (CHAN) which Cameroon will host from April 4 to 25. However, while the pay for these jobs is very appealing, this is just another scam targeting unemployed youths.

On February 14th, the minister of sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, who also chairs the COCAN, warned “against job offers supposedly issued by the COCAN, especially those promising high wages” that are being relayed on social networks.

The official reminded that so far the only hiring operation launched by the COCAN, for the CHAN, is the one to recruit volunteers and the corresponding deadline for submission of applications for this process was February 7, 2020. “Participation to the organization of the coming CHAN, both for statutory members of the 20-21 COCAN and volunteers, is a patriotic act and it is mostly temporary and non-remunerated, says Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. Also, for any reliable information on the CHAN, those interested in participating in the event’s organization must address competent authorities at the COCAN, the minister said.
