A notice for the recruitment of 1,600 communal agents in the 10 regions of Cameroon, launched by an NGO on behalf of the National Programme for Local Development (Pronadel), has been circulating on social media in the past few days. Beware, this is a scam!

The alarm was raised by the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development (Minddevel) Georges Elanga Obam. In a press release on April 21, 2020, the Minddevel indicated that he has not mandated any association or civil society organization for such recruitments.

According to the official, municipalities exclusively handle their recruitments at the mayors’ diligence, without intermediaries. He then cautioned the public to be more vigilant when confronted with attractive job ads and offers attributed to his ministerial department or its decentralized local authorities.
