Yesterday, February 3, 2021, Cameroonian President Paul Biya granted an audience to Kananathan Veluppillai, a special envoy from Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

During the audience, the host and his visitor discussed bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and Sri Lanka, the press service of the Presidency informs.

Interviewed at the end of the audience, the Sri Lankan envoy explained that he was here to present his country’s offer for cooperation in energy and agriculture.

As far as the energy sector is concerned, Sri Lanka plans to invest in the production and marketing of solar energy, Kananathan Veluppillai informed.

As for the agricultural sector, Sri Lanka intends to invest in "massive national production" of export crops. Although Kananathan Veluppillai provided no details about the agricultural investment project, we know that his country is known as a major rice, tea (the country is the 4th largest producer in the world), and oilseed producer.
