Cameroon is close to validating traditional solutions against Covid-19

The inter-ministerial consultation with the actors of traditional pharmacopoeia involved in the fight against Covid-19, held on 15 July 2020 in Yaoundé, resulted in the development of a methodology that should pave the way for an institutional framework for traditional medicine.

This methodology has not been made public. According to the authorities, the methodology serves to “conduct a careful examination of herbal therapeutic solutions to exploit the most relevant for the protocol of care to be offered to patients of Covid-19.”

To date, several actors of the traditional pharmacopoeia, including Mgr Samuel Kleda (pictured), Metropolitan Archbishop of Douala, claim they have cured covid-19 patients with herbal solutions.

Since the President of the Republic has encouraged the search for an endogenous solution against coronavirus, initiatives are multiplying in favor of traditional medicine

But “we need scientific validation. It is necessary,” recommends the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo.
