In Cameroon, fewer duties are collected for the import of used tyres than they are for new ones. This is what could be deduced from the decision signed on April 24, 2019, by finance minister Louis Paul Motaze.
According to the decision, the taxable value (cost-insurance-freight) of new tyres are the following :
- XAF10 million duties applied per 20 ft container of tyres for passenger car, van, trucks and minibuses.
- XAF22 million per 40 ft container of tyres for passenger car, van, trucks and minibuses tyre.
These taxable values are higher than those collected for used tyres since for a 20 ft container of used tyres, it is XAF6 million.
For 40 ft containers of used tyres, XAF12 million is collected.
