For sometime now, mobile telephony subscribers have been receiving SMS inviting them to transfer money via mobile money for a supposed recruitment at the national social security fund (Caisse nationale de prévoyance sociale-Cnps). After verification with the CNPS, it appears that this is a scam.
Alain Noël Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame, director general of the CNPS expressed his views about the scam in a communique published on October 31, 2018. "These lawless individuals send messages to their victims via a software showing 'secrétariat Cnps' requiring mobile money transfers for "application fees" to the following numbers 6 54 12 96 97; 6 91 68 40 13, etc.".
Mr. Mekulu Mvondo Akame reminds that the CNPS has never required the services of a mobile operator or any third-party for staff recruitment which by the way complies with a public process. So, while inviting the population to stay alert and promptly report those scammers, the CNPS assures them that it will prosecute the authors of such ignominious acts and have them severely punished by law in the presence of competent authorities.
